99-Year-Old Lady Sews A Dress A Day For Children In Need

Lillian Weber, a 99-year-old good Samaritan from Iowa, has spent the last few years sewing a dress a day for the Little Dresses For Africa charity, a Christian organization that distributes dresses to children in need in Africa and elsewhere.

Weber’s goal is to make 1,000 dresses by the time she turns 100 on May 6th. So far, she’s made more than 840. Though she says she could make two a day, she only makes one – but each single dress she makes per day is personalized with careful stitchwork. She hopes that each little girl who receives her dress can take pride in her new garment.

Accompanying piece to demon!Dean making an entrance.
Still playing around with SFX animation, this time with light and glowy effects! Normally, I dig the black wings, but white kinda works better for this one.

WHY WASNT THIS NATIONAL NEWS?!

I think we know why.

This made Atlanta news because it happened not far from where I live. It was only a few months after Sandy Hook and I just remember crying from relief when I heard about this woman and how she managed to prevent another tragedy through compassion and empathy.

Tell me again why a women’s liberation movement is no longer needed.

Dear “I don’t need feminism” crowd…

“The Iowa Supreme Court on Friday stood by its ruling that a dentist acted legally when he fired an assistant because he found her too attractive and worried he would try to start an affair. Coming to the same conclusion as it did in December, the all-male court found that bosses can fire employees they see as threats to their marriages, even if the subordinates have not engaged in flirtatious or other inappropriate behavior. The court said such firings do not count as illegal sex discrimination because they are motivated by feelings, not gender." [x]

i hope all old white men burn in hell

Are you fucking kidding me.

I just don’t understand this. Why?? How?? What in the world?

funny how a male employer’s decisions ~*~*motivated by feelings*~*~ are totally permissible and even defended in a court of law but god forbid women ever have feelings period let alone make decisions based on them

I looked up the article on google, it’s at least two years old… D: Wondering if there was any justice for that poor lady.

Evelyn: Look, I… I may not be an explorer, or an adventurer, or a treasure-seeker, or a gunfighter, Mr. O’Connell, but I am proud of what I am.
Rick: And what is that?
Evelyn: I… am a librarian.
